2014 Gun Lake Winterfest Schedule

(Events will be held at the Allegan County Park unless otherwise indicated.)

Friday, Feb. 7th Run for Mayor of Gun Lake Winterfest!  A mayoral debate will begin at 7pm, at The Bib.  Voting will take place Feb. 10-14.  Voting is $1 per ballot and can be purchased from each of the candidates. All proceeds going to the Winterfest fund.  Voting ballot boxes will be located at the Gun Lake BP (the corner of Patterson and 129th) and at The Store at South Shore (11937 Marsh Road). Anyone interested in putting his or her name on the ballot may call Jordan Francisco, 269-838-7004.

Friday, Feb. 8th till noon on the 15th – Winterfest Fishing Contest – $5 adults / $3 children. Adults 1st & 2nd place for each species of fish listed: Muskie, Pike, Perch, Bluegill or Crappie Children 1st & 2nd place for each species listed: Pan fish, Perch, Bluegill, or Crappie. Feb. 10th-16th – Gun Lake Studio (“Official” photographer for Winterfest) will be showcasing their work in a Photo exhibit at The Bib. Stop by through the week and put your name in a drawing to win a print at a $250 value. There will be a “meet the artist” on Sun. 16th from 1:30-3:30 where the name will be drawn. For more info. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 14

Yankee Springs Golf Course (269) 795-0030 - Free Cross Country Skiing. Open to all. You must have your own equipment, Sorry No rentals available.

7pm-10pm – Wine & Canvas Date Night Painting: at Yankee Springs Golf Course. You must preregister for this event. Appetizers and Dinner Specials will be available for the evening.

9pm – Comedy Show at the Orchard Hills Golf course – 714, 125th Ave. Wayland. Doors open at 8pm, show starts at 9pm. The head liner is World Class Comedian Mark Simmons and featuring James Brown Jr. Hosted by Gun Lake’s very own Jordan Francisco. Tickets will be on sale for $15 and are available Hinkles Auto Body, The Bib, Orchard Hills Golf Course, Taylored Hair Designs or by calling Jordan Francisco @ 269-838-7004. Must be 18 or older. Pizza by the slice.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 15
(ON-SITE EVENTS)

10am – Gun Lake Tribe Opening Ceremony on stage.

10am-6pm Music throughout the day by Various Entertainment DJ Services.

10am Registration/11am Start – Co-ed Volleyball – must have at least 2 males and 2 females per team. $65 per team. There will be 2 games to 21 with a 3rd if needed tie breaker to 15. Scoring will be rally scoring. $200 cash prize for 1st place. Sign up your team and for any questions please call Kari at (616-291-1147)

10am-2pm – Put your friend in “jail” for only $1 and help raise funds for next year’s Winterfest. Buy a $5 button to keep out of jail all day.

10am-4pm – Food vendors open!

10am-5pm – Holly Trolley free rides! Runs throughout the day with stops at: Sand Bar & Grill, Gun Lake Community Church, The Bib, Allegan County Park, The Store @ South Shore and Bay Pointe Inn.

11am-4pm – Polar Bear Dip registration on park’s lakefront. Cost $10. Limited T-shirts available. Dip starts at 4pm. Questions contact Barry Chamber of Commerce at (269) 945-2454.

11am-2:30pm – Kids Games ages 9 and younger Inside the Gun Lake Marine building next to the county parking lot. Lots of fun for the kids. (Sponsored by Gun Lake Community Church) Ride the Trolley to Gun Lake Community Church for activities for the older kids ages 10-17, including Ice Skating.

11-12:30pm – Live Music on Stage provided by one of the Gun Lake Community Church Praise & Worship Teams!

11am, Noon, 1pm & 2pm – Chicken Drop! Buy your tickets, $1 each.

11am-12:30pm Registration – Battle of the Beards! At the Grand Rapids order of Whiskers Tent.

11am Registration/11:45 Lineup – .05k Beer Run. $1 to run, with all proceeds going to charity. Registration at the RT Stitchcrafts booth.

Noon – Start -.05k Beer Run The first 20 runners to cross the finish line gets a free t-shirt. (sponsored by Grand Rapids order of Whiskers and RT Stitchcrafts)

Noon/following the Race-4pm – Beer Tent!!! Craft beer selection.

Noon-2pm – Best Chili on Gun Lake, Chili Cook-off. From area Businesses. Public judging in the Beer tent. $1 per vote. Ages 21 or Older

Noon-2pm – Best Chili on Gun Lake, Chili Cook-off. Open to the public but has to be cooked in a licensed kitchen. Must represent a local business, local fire station, local police station or VFW. 12:30-2pm – Battle of the Beards Featuring the Grand Rapids Order of Whiskers on Stage. (Sponsored by RT Stitchcrafts)

2pm-2:30pm – Pizza Eating Contest (Sponsored by Lake Side Pizza) on Stage.

6:30am-11am – Winterfest Pancake Breakfast & Bake Sale at Orangeville Twp. Hall. (Sponsored by the Orangeville Fire Department), donations appreciated. Bake Sale sponsored by Gun Lake Women’s Club. GFWC (General Federation of Women’s Clubs)

10:30am-12pm – Mitten Mixer Fitness Hike Featuring Eco Trek Fitness. At the Long Lake Outdoor Center. Free cross-country ski, snow-shoe or winter hike depending on weather. Bring your own skis or snowshoes. Please RSVP (required) via email by Friday, Feb. 14 to signup@ecotrekfitness.com.

10am-2pm - Vintage Snowmobile Show: Yankee Springs Golf Course. Free to Show, Free to Attend. Vintage ride for all participants, weather permitting. Trophies will be awarded.
